“Sir, I delivered the full 10,000 litres”

Published 1 min read

Short deliveries quietly drain thousands of litres. Learn the five common excuses and how to verify every tanker delivery.

A Dhaka pump owner told me he was losing his mind. Every delivery was 200 to 300 litres short. The driver always said the same thing: “Sir, I gave the full 10,000. Some oil sticks to the tank.” With 12 deliveries a month at 250 litres each, that is 3,000 litres, about ৳2.7 lakh, gone every month.

Five common excuses

  • “Tank residue”: the driver says old oil is stuck in the truck tank, while 200 to 300 litres may have been deliberately left inside
  • “Measurement error”: the dip stick is not accurate, “our calibrated meter says it is fine”, though the truck meter itself may have been tampered with
  • “Temperature”: it was cool when loaded and has expanded in the heat. That is often just numbers being juggled
  • “Night delivery”: it was dark, so exact measurement was hard, and the darkness gives cover
  • “Multiple stops”: three pumps in one trip, so the calculation is complicated. The confusion is used to shave the most

Verify every delivery with TruckEye

  • Live tracking: GPS location, route check, how long the truck stops and speed patterns
  • Fuel flow monitoring: dispensing rate, total volume and temperature compensation, with the time of delivery
  • Automatic documentation: digital delivery receipts, photo evidence and timestamps, so the driver is accountable

An ATG on the receiving tank adds a second check, because it shows how much fuel actually arrived. With both, “I delivered 10,000 litres” becomes something you can confirm instead of something you have to accept.
